What is Trademark Renewal?

Trademark Renewal can pertain to two distinct documents:

1. The first document is formally known as a Declaration of Continued Use. This document is submitted only once, following the trademark's registration for a period of five years. It is common for individuals to informally refer to this as a five-year renewal.

2. The second document is referred to as a Trademark Renewal. This renewal must be filed between nine and ten years after the trademark's initial registration, with subsequent renewals required every ten years thereafter.

What are the Requirements for a Trademark Renewal?

1.The government imposes a fee of $650 for each class to process a trademark renewal that lasts for ten years, and a fee of $325 per class for the submission of a statement of continued use, which is due in the sixth year.

2. Should you fail to meet the deadline for filing the statement of continued use or the ten-year trademark renewal, you are permitted to file up to six months late during a Grace Period, incurring an additional fee of $100 per class.

3. To complete the trademark renewal process, please visit www.trademarkpatron.com. Throughout this process, you will be required to provide proof, referred to as a "specimen," demonstrating that you are actively using your trademark in connection with the products and/or services specified in your registration. For trademarks registered for products, acceptable specimens may include images of product packaging, clothing tags, or product labels that clearly display your trademark. For trademarks registered for services, suitable specimens may consist of brochures, advertisements, or websites that prominently feature your trademark in relation to the services offered.
